NetSys 2021

NetSys postponed to 13.-16. September 2021

Dear colleagues, dear authors,

the current COVID-19 crisis will now also affect the NetSys’21. We very much hoped to meet you all in March next year in Lübeck, but from today’s perspective it seems unrealistic to hold a conference with physical presence at that time. Going virtual, as so many other conferences did, is not an option for us. The NetSys is not only a conference, it is also a family meeting. Many of us had to learn over the last months that virtual family meetings are not the same than real ones.
For this reason and after discussing this thoroughly with the steering committee of the NetSys (KUVS ELG), we will move the conference to 13.-16. September 2021 in the sincere hope that infection rates are then down again, and we can meet physically in Lübeck. On the good side of this postponement, if there is any: Lübeck in autumn is way more beautiful than it is in March.

This will also result in a generous extension of all NetSys deadlines. We accept additional submissions to the main tracks (extended abstracts and hot topic papers) until November 30th, 2020. PhD Forum, early work, and demo tracks, as well as the workshops will extend their deadlines as well.

The Conference on Networked Systems (NetSys 2021) provides an international forum for engineers and scientists in academia, industry, and government to discuss recent innovations in the realm of networked systems.

This year’s edition will take place in Lübeck in Northern Germany close to the Baltic Sea coast. The Baltic Area has always been very active in networking, and the most famous and economically most important network during medieval ages has been the Hanse – which actually still exists today. Therefore, the motto for this year NetSys is “NetSys meets Hanse”.

NetSys 2021 is co-organized with ITG Zukunft der Netze 2021 and the “Frühjahrstreffen Betriebsysteme” of the Experts Group “Operating Systems” of the Gesellschaft für Informatik.

NetSys is a biennial event that originates from the key scientific conference on networked systems in German-speaking countries KiVS (Kommunikation in Verteilten Systemen) – which was initiated 41 years ago and has international orientation since 2013. NetSys is organized by the special interest group “Communication and Distributed Systems” (KUVS), which is anchored both in the German Computer Science society (Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI)) and in the Information Technology society (Informationstechnische Gesellschaft im VDE (ITG)).
